INTRODUCTION
El Cielo is a restaurant with creative cuisine where every dish offers a new sensory experience for its guests. Merging the kitchen with physics and chemistry, El Cielo invites to choose between their tasting 12 or 15 times, menus are redesigned every two months for his chef Juan Manuel Barrientos.
A full array of dishes can be found: confit liquid nitrogen, and envigadeña jasmine rice pudding with blue cheese sauce. All these tasty demonstrations impeccable culinary laboratory work in a delicate and original atmosphere. No doubt a great experience for fans of molecular cuisine in the heart of Bogotá.
CHEF
Juan Manuel Barrientos, chef and owner of El Cielo restaurant located in Medellin and Bogota, began his career in 2004 studying gastronomy in the Colombian Tuition of Medellin, where he retired and went to Argentina in search of the renowned Iwao Komiyama, chef Specializing in sushi and Japanese cuisine, alongside Iwao, Juan Manuel learns thoroughness and techniques implemented in a kitchen. In 2005 he entered the restaurant Arzak in San Sebastian, Spain, where he learned the techniques and composition of modern kitchen.
Returning Colombian, at age 23, Barrientos put into practice the learning obtained during that year and decided to create the restaurant Heaven, inspired by Colombian cuisine and using their creativity, using traditional art techniques and using their knowledge of neuroscience to create tasting menus of generating emotions and feelings to their customers. El Cielo opens in Bogotá in May 2011.
